Funeral services for Kathryn Rosenberg, age 97, of Ellsworth, MN, were held Saturday, January 12th at Zion Presbyterian Church, Ellsworth, MN, officiated by Rev. Paul Snyder and Rev. Deb Klaassen. Burial was at the Grand Prairie Cemetery in Ellsworth. Kathryn died Wednesday, January 9, 2019 at Parkview Manor Care Center in Ellsworth, MN.
Kathryn Louise Tjepkes was born December 27, 1921 the daughter of Jacob and Johanna (Heeren) Tjepkes near Canby, MN. She was united in marriage to Alfred Rosenberg on FebFebruary 2, 1943 in Ellsworth, MN. Their union was blessed with six children. Together they farmed and raised their family in the Ellsworth area. Following Alfred’s retirement in 1973, they moved into their home in Ellsworth and Kathryn was employed at Parkview Manor and later K-Products manufacturing in Rock Rapids, IA. Kathryn was a member of Zion Presbyterian Church and was active in the Ellsworth Senior Citizen organization for many years. Kathryn loved spending time with family and was a loving mother and grandmother. An excellent cook, Kathryn will be remembered for her apple and peach pies and buttermilk brownies. Family and friends always found the coffeepot on and a cookie or bar ready for their visits with her.
She is survived by her children, Larry (Betty) Rosenberg of Slayton, MN; Bruce (Judy) Rosenberg of Ellsworth, MN; Gene (Karen) Rosenberg of Luverne, MN; Joan (Larry) Wendland of Ellsworth, MN; Mary Rust of Luverne, MN; Steven (Brenda) Rosenberg of Sibley, IA; 17 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; 4 sisters, Viola Johnson of St. Michael, MN; Marian Boltjes of Ellsworth, MN; Lorraine Newman of Sibley, IA; and Leona Geerdes of Black Duck, MN; and many nieces, nephews and other extended family.
She was preceded in death by her husband Alfred; 3 brothers Luke, Martin and Harry Tjepkes; 3 sisters Tina Rust, Johanna Gross, and Fannie Luitjens; and 2 great-grandchildren.
