It’s hard to believe how dry the area is after a very wet spring. There are some big cracks in the gardens and lawns. The predictions for Tuesday rain is over an inch that will take care of the near future. I would hate to have a break in the lawn mowing. That little hot spell did send everyone looking for an air conditioned space with temperatures at or near 100 degrees for several days. If you miss it, don’t worry it will be back.

There will be no carnival this year at the Wood Duck Festival as you already know. A lot of good organizations have stepped forward to fill the weekend with games, rides, and food to make up any loss. Like a lot of games and inflatables will fill the streets. See you there.

The carnival, Cody’s Rides, has better things to do than honoring a contract. It was a couple of years ago that Fulda was without a carnival and things went well. This year will be just as good.

One hour in the garden this past weekend took two hours of re hydration to get back the ability to move around again. The plants are in good shape but they will be great with an inch or two of rain. I’m sure the field crops are just as thirsty. I will admit I have a terrible time growing carrots. They have a poor germination rate and if they do make the surface, it’s right next to a very hardy weed that pulls the tiny, fragile, weak carrot out with it. I will do better next year. The Farmers Market always has good carrots fresh from somebody’s garden.

A guy shows up late for work.

The boss yells, ‘You should’ve been here at 8.30!’

He replies. ‘Why? What happened at 8.30?’

If you live being scared to die, it means you don’t know how to live.
