Jottings by Jerry – Dec 7

We have had some nice days, but it will change because it’s Minnesota and that’s the way it works. I did get a few extra projects done because of the nice start of December.

One of our daughter in-laws was on the short list for the new model Apple watch  which came out in the last month or so. Long story short, I received the old Apple watch over Thanksgiving weekend. She had ordered a larger band for it to fit my fat wrist that is all gnarled up with old age. It kind of makes me feel like Dick Tracy of sixty years ago who had a watch that he talked into in the funny papers. How did they know? My watch can do more stuff than I will ever use, but so far I’m discovering something new every day. The first day I picked out the clock face and I chose one for a photo with the time and current weather. The watch plucked a photo from my iPhone immediately which was of me with the deer I shot this last season. It was probably the one I would have picked anyway. It does most everything my smart phone does and some new stuff that works with my phone, like remote photos. So now I’m right up there with Dick Tracy.

Smith was always tired. After a while, he became known in the office for dozing off at his desk, sometimes even several times a day. Granted, he had a good reason. His wife had just had twins and he didn’t get much sleep at home. But his boss was having none of it. He told Smith that if he was caught sleeping on the job one more time, he would be fired.

That same week, the boss decided to make a surprise visit at Smith’s desk, to see if the situation had improved. You can imagine what happened next, he found Smith asleep.

But Smith was a quick thinker. He woke up just in time, remained in his position and calmly delivered the following line that saved his job: “… and I especially thank you for my excellent boss. Amen.”
