The snow, long awaited, has brought us our winter wonderland. A little less wonder would have worked just as well for me but there is no choice. We will be in winter mode for quite some time. Sunday was lost to snow removal. There can be a joy in the reflections of Christmas lights on the blanket of fresh snow. This week’s Parade of Lights in Fulda can only be enhanced by snow as well as the turkey bowling.

The passing of President George H. W. Bush, our forty first president, is a somber event. His service to country is unquestioned. The office of the presidency has never been the same.

The Christmas countdown is at twenty four days this Wednesday until the holiday. Just a little over three weeks for proper preparations. Hopefully ours will be a less hectic one, a time to just enjoy the season. It’s great to be caught up in the rush of the holiday but a little time in reflection of the meaning can do us well. Family will carry the day.

I stayed on my feet for the entire week, no near slips or frantic grabbing. Ice cleats can be a great help if you take the time to put them on. Sanding and salting helps It will be a long winter. The need to buy bread and milk intensifies with each inch of snow forecast. You may not need any or don’t want any but you grab it because you might. You just went a week without using bread or milk and never missed it, but as soon as it’s past flurries you’re on your way to the store. At any given time I think that we have two to four weeks of food, much longer if your not picky. The need intensified by the inabilities of getting it rules the day.

Be careful when trying to kill two birds with one stone.            You might miss both birds.

Have a good week!
