Minnesota presented itself well in hosting the Super Bowl game Sunday. The buildup to Sunday had plenty to offer visitors and it was offered with plenty of Minnesota Nice. The best part was that it was accomplished in the near 0 degrees that we are famous for. It was a great party. Yes, the game was pretty good also.

SmartAsset has released its fourth annual study on places with the lowest tax burdens. Comparing counties in Minnesota, Murray and Pipestone are ranked eight and nine. The study compares income, sales, property, and fuel tax for a Tax Burden Index. Murray and Pipestone counties have an index rate of 69.11. The top ranking county is Kittson with a TBI of 70.70.

Shoveling the snow is becoming a burden and this week looks like it’s not going to get better. We could have had more so maybe it’s too early to moan. The wind was whistling pretty well on Sunday but it wasn’t an all out blizzard. Those days are ahead of us yet. The birds, squirrels and rabbits are requiring a little help making it through the cold and snow. My offering of seeds is snapped up pretty fast. The pheasants are going to be squeezed into smaller habitats forcing greater competition for food. It is a time to be compassionate.

I was at the Post Office, when I see a blonde woman shouting into an envelope. I asked, “What are you doing?”

The blonde replied, “Sending a voice mail.”

Life is like a feast… some are there to serve, while others are there to be served.
