A Mass of Christian burial for Joe Beckmann, age 77, of Wilmont, MN was held on October 2, 2020 at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church, in Wilmont, officiated by Monsignor Richard Colletti. A private family burial will take place at a later date. Joe died Sunday, September 27, 2020, at the Sanford Worthington Medical Center. He was born December 4, 1942, on the family farm in Wilmont Township, to Raymond and Veronica (Penning) Beckmann. He graduated from Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic High School.
Joe married Dianne Madison on September 24, 1964, at St. Adrian Catholic Church in Adrian, MN. The couple lived on the farm west of Wilmont. Joe worked at Armour’s in Worthington, MN for a short time before he began milking cows and grain farming. In 1985, he retired from milking and continued raising beef cattle, hogs and grain farming. He retired in 2003. He was a member of Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church where he served on the parish council. Joe was also a member of the Wilmont Lions Club and the Wilmont-Adrian Coop Board. He enjoyed bowling, billiards, playing cards, bus trips and “fishing at the casino”.
Joe is survived by his wife, Dianne Beckmann, Wilmont, MN; three children, Judy (Dave) Christians, Wilmont, MN; Tim Beckmann, Brandon, SD; and Carolyn (Chuck) Zemler, Adrian, MN; ten grandchildren, Duane (Devyn) Christians, Troy Christians, Kurt Christians, Ashley (Tyler) Fuerstenberg, Travis (Brittney) Zemler, Brent Zemler, Josh (fiancée, Caitlyn) Zemler, Emily Zemler, Zach Zemler, and Hope Zemler; two great-grandchildren, Kai Fuerstenberg and one due in November, Eli Zemler; a brother, Norman Beckmann, Wilmont, MN; and two sisters, Alverna (Lee) Madison, Wilmont, MN; and Marie (Myron) Onken, Reading, MN.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Harold (Agnes) Beckmann.
