Jerry’s Jottings 5-30-18

The holiday weekend was warm, very warm, but it might be better than the cold, windy Memorial Day weekends that would occasionally come our way. This year found me fishing on the Mississippi River north of La Crosse, WI near Galesville, WI. The fishing was good even though it was hot and windy. Saturday was good for bluegills and perch. Sunday was a little hotter at 97 with no wind. We were looking for the elusive walleye but found northerns. Four hours, maybe five and it was a full day. The rest of the time was reconnecting with old friends. There were storms with hail, rain and wind on Friday and Monday.  At home again there was no rain, just heat. There is a promise of some rain on Tuesday.

I have read a lot of John Sandford books in the past few years and I was reading one in the downtime this past weekend. Sandford is a Minnesota writer who incorporates different areas of the state in his stories of investigations of crimes. This book is INVISIBLE PREY copyright 2007, it started quickly and on page thirty two there was a short couple of lines (Tell him if we get attitude, I’ll donate his _ _ _ to the Fulda City Council as the town cop.)  I chuckled for sometime and I’m interested if it comes up again.

Daughter: “Dad, when will I be old enough to go to the movies with a boy?”

Dad: “When you’re a year older than your brother.”

The daughter thought for a moment and replied: “But I’ll never be older than my brother, he was born first.”

Dad: “I guess there’s your answer. But don’t blame me, go talk to your brother.”

Have a good week.
