Visitation for James C. Odenbrett, age 85, of Adrian, MN will be held on Wednesday, September 19, 2018 from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the Adrian Funeral Home in Adrian, MN. A Private family graveside service will be held at a later date at the St. Adrian Catholic Cemetery in Adrian. James died Saturday, September 15, 2018, at The Sanford Luverne Hospice Cottage in Luverne, MN. James Clarence Odenbrett was born October 19, 1932, to Mathew and Lenore (Kunkel) Odenbrett in Adrian, MN. He was baptized and confirmed in the Catholic faith and attended St. Adrian Catholic School.
On May 30, 1951, James married Margaret Meester in St. Mary’s Catholic Church rectory in Ellsworth, MN. They made their home in Adrian and Jim worked for the Worthington Rendering Co. for over twenty years. He then worked for Hohn Implement in Adrian as a truck driver for ten years. They moved to Slayton, MN in 1976 and Jim went to work for the Minnesota Department of Transportation as a highway maintenance driver, until his retirement in 1990. They then moved back to Adrian and he remained in their home until September 8, 2018 when he entered the Hospice Cottage in Luverne, where he died..
Jim was a member of the St. Adrian Catholic Church and a past member of St. Ann’s in Slayton. In the past he enjoyed square dancing and bowling and he continued to enjoy fishing and playing cards, but what he loved most was spending time with his family.
James in survived by his wife, Margaret Odenbrett of Adrian, MN; one son, Randy Odenbrett of Sanborn, IA; three daughters, Debra (Gil) Breuer of Thief River Falls, MN; Mary Jo (Lyle) Boots of Adrian, MN; and Pamela Marshall of Slayton, MN; 13 grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; one sister-in-law, Joann (Alvin) Wirtjes of Elmore, MN; many nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Mathew and Lenore; his step father, Joseph Pint; one daughter-in-law, Barb Odenbrett; one brother, John Pint; and two sisters, Marion (Bill) Kruger and Lucille (Gene) McCardell.
