A Mass of Christian Burial for Helen M. Broesder, age 95, of Adrian, MN will be held on Monday, October 21, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Adrian Catholic Church in Adrian, MN officiated by Monsignor Richard Colletti. A time of fellowship will be from 4-6 p.m. on Sunday, October 20, 2019 at the Dingmann Funeral Home in Adrian; and also one hour prior to the Mass at the church on Monday. A private family committal of cremains will be in the St. Adrian Cemetery. Helen died Friday, October 11, 2019, at the Lake Shore Nursing Home in Waseca, MN. She was born December 31, 1923, in rural Adrian, to Frank and Theresa (Deutsch) Metz.
Helen married William Broesder on February 27, 1946, at St. Adrian Catholic Church in Adrian. The couple farmed near the Lismore, MN, Kensington, MN and Belgrade, MN areas, before moving back to Adrian in 1956. Helen worked in various places before becoming head cook at Adrian Public Schools. She retired in 1986. Until recently, she was a resident of Ecumen Meadows in Worthington. She was a member of St. Adrian Catholic Church; the St. Adrian WCCW; the Adrian Senior Citizens; and volunteered at the Adrian Nursing Home for fourteen years.
Helen is survived by her three children, Patricia (Tom) Ekdahl, Fremont, NE; David (Barbara) Broesder, Dassel, MN; and Marilyn (Greg) Vetter, Owatonna, MN; seven grandchildren, Shane (Monica) Ekdahl; Wendy (Mark) Young; Michael Broesder; Joshua (Alissa) Broesder; Jessica (Drew) Anderson; Dana (Drake) Simonson and Kristin (Levi) Tomes; six great-grandchildren, Aiden Campbell and Freya Broesder; Owen Simonson; Quinn, Daemarii, and Mario Young; a brother, Norbert Metz, Omaha, NE; three sisters, Mildred (Frank) Van Horsen, Adrian, MN; Rita (Earl) Lenz, Lismore, MN; and Marie Kruger, Worthington, MN; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, William on May 1, 2004; and two brothers, Raymond and Leonard Metz.
