Severe weather on the night of August 18, 2017 brought strong winds, heavy rain, hail, and confirmed tornadoes to parts of southwestern Minnesota. Damage to buildings and crops was particularly heavy throughout parts of Murray, Nobles, Pipestone, and Rock counties and into Iowa. In an effort to provide crop producers with information about potential impacts and to assist in the decision-making process, University of Minnesota Extension will be holding a Hail Clinic on Monday, August 28, 2017 from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. at the Wilmont Community Center in Wilmont. This event is free of charge and light refreshments will be provided.
University of Minnesota Extension specialists and Extension Educators will lead the discussion and cover topics including estimating corn and soybean yield and quality impacts, risk of disease and pest issues, and harvest and feeding considerations for silage and grain
