Groenewold retires from Rushmore fire department

After over 37 years LeRoy Groenewold will be retiring as a volunteer firefighter with the Rushmore Fire Department.  Friends, family and fellow volunteer firefighters gathered Monday, February 27, 2017 to recognize LeRoy’s years of service to the community of Rushmore.  The department presented LeRoy with a plaque in honor of his service.  Rushmore Fire Chief Brent Petersen commenting on how fortunate the department is to have had LeRoy he stated “volunteer fire departments are built on dedicated people like LeRoy Groenewold who are willing to donate their time to their communities for so many years.”
