Funeral services for Gladys Lucille Buss, age 95, of Lismore were Tuesday, January 2, 2017, at the Dingmann Funeral Home, in Adrian, officiated by Pastor Tom Vogt. Burial will be in the Adrian Cemetery. Lucille died Friday, December 29, 2017, at the Sanford Luverne Hospice Cottage. She was born December 2, 1922, on a farm north of Hardwick, to John and Elizabeth (Peters) Stuckenbroker. She attended country school in rural Rock County.
Gladys married Jake Buss on June 27, 1943, in Ellsworth. The couple moved to a farm west of Adrian from 1944 to 1946. In 1946, they moved to the farm southwest of Lismore. Jake died on March 19, 2010. Gladys moved off the farm on December 6 of this year. Gladys and Jake were both 95 years of age at the time of their deaths.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Lismore and the Presbyterian Women. She enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening, listening to old time music and dancing.
Gladys is survived by her four children, Betty Jean Kafka, Sarasota, FL; Darlene (Gerald) Thaden, Marvin, SD; Jake Buss Jr., rural Lismore, MN; and Burdell Buss, St. Paul, MN; five grandchildren, Anita Slagle, Ardell (Cathy) Kafka, Jane (Steve) Lawson, Rodney (Rebecca) Thaden & Aurora (Jody) Heard; and seven great-grandchildren, Anthony Kafka, Natalie Thaden, Leroy Thaden, Prairie Lawson and Kerrie Lawson, Ella Heard and Luke Heard; a brother, Harry (Doris) Stuckenbroker, Pipestone, MN; two brothers-in-law, Donald Schmuck, Ellsworth, MN; and Dale Hawes, Luverne, MN; and a sister-in-law, Helen Stuckenbroker, Hardwick, MN.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jake in 2010; son, Stanley Buss in 2003; son-in-law, James Kafka in 2001; three sisters, Arlene Sievert, Viola Schmuck and Judy Hawes; two brothers, Alvin and Johnny Stuckenbroker; and an infant sister, Helen.
