George D Ransom, Jr. passed away in his home on November 16, 2016 after a nearly 4 year battle with brain cancer. George was born on May 12, 1970 to George and Joann (Bos) Ransom. He grew up in Ellsworth, MN. He served in the US Navy from 1989 – 1993. He married Andrea (Schmidt) Ransom March 23, 1991. After his service in the Navy he trained as a Journeyman Electrician and in the field of HVAC leading him to work at the Sioux Falls VA Medical Center, where he worked until illness prevented him.
He was the proud father of Cayden, Lee and Nolan Ransom. George dedicated his world to his family and home, participating in, chauffeuring to, and cheering the boys in their sporting events. He cheered for the Dallas Cowboys, loved to watch John Wayne Movies, walk the pheasant fields and sing random lines from hundreds of songs.
He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Andrea, and sons, Cayden, Lee and Nolan Ransom; parents, George and Joann Ransom; sisters Jody (Brian) Daun, Gina (Tom) Rosdail and Heidi (Tod) Hinrichs, his in-laws, George and Nancy Schmidt and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will begin at 2:00 pm Tuesday, November 22, at Heritage Funeral Home with the family present from 5:00 to 8:00 pm. A celebration of life service will begin at 10:30 am Wednesday, November 23 at Linwood Wesleyan Church in Sioux Falls. www.heritagesfsd.com.
