GBB Defeat Wildcats by a Dozen

The Adrian girls were able to battle through foul troubles and turnovers to come away with a twelve-point win over Red Rock Conference rival Heron Lake-Okabena. Freshmen point guard Moriah Bullerman would lead the Dragons with a 12 of 13 performance from the freethrow line as she ended with a dozen points. The win pushes the Adrian’s conference record to 7-2, while overall the Dragons slip above the five hundred mark at 8-7.

Being whistled for 22 team fouls in the contest the Dragons had two players sent to the bench with five fouls apiece while sending the host Wildcats to the line for 36 charity tosses. The early fouls with consecutive turnovers allowed HLO to stake a 14-9 advantage before a Moriah Bullerman assist lead to a Lexi Slater basket that followed a Mikayla Jeffers three-pointer knotting the score at 14 all with 10:58 to play in the opening period.

HLO dropped in another freethrow to claim the lead back (15-14) before Jeffers delivered on a pair of charity tosses to give the Dragons the lead at 16-15. It would be a lead that was threatened several times, but was never given up. Slater connected again seconds later and Miah Kunkel got on the scoreboard finishing a 4-0 Adrian run which gave the visitors a five-point lead.
