Fall sports in Ellsworth will add a new program to the already existing volleyball (Ellsworth) and football (paired with Edgerton) programs and that will be Cross Country. Ethan Van Briesen, second year 4th grade teacher in Ellsworth, will be the new head coach. VanBriesen has a running background so he is excited to accept the position of head coach. Ethan is a George-Little Rock graduate and attended Morningside college participating in their cross country and track programs. The schedule has not been set as of yet, but Coach VanBriesen expects it to be similar to Adrian Public School’s schedule. The program has four students committed as of now, with hopes to have more when school gets started. Good Luck to Coach VanBriesen and his team in their first season.
Ellsworth volleyball will start under new leadership after the resignation of Coach McDowell. The new coach is Jessica Albrecht. Jessica will be teaching K-12 physical education in Ellsworth when the school doors open. Jessica attended Onalaska Luther High School in Pickwick located on the Minnesota-Wisconsin border. She played volleyball and basketball in high school. She graduated from Winona State University. During her college years, she found time to participate in sand volleyball leagues while working four jobs. Jessica will also be the girls’ assistant basketball coach. Jessica will be starting her first teaching and coaching careers this year in Ellsworth. She is excited to get to know the kids and bring new ideas to the program.
