Edward “Bud” John

Edward “Bud” John was born on July 8, 1931 near St. Kilian, Minnesota the son of William and Olivia (Einck) John. He attended St. Kilian Catholic School through the 8th grade and then worked for Ray Lonneman on his farm.

Bud entered the US Navy on September 19, 1950. He served as a boilerman on the USS LST-1081, a tank landing ship. His brothers, Alvin and Larry, also served in the same ship. Bud was discharged from duty on December 30, 1953.

After his Navy discharge, Bud returned to farm work with Ray Lonneman. He married Patricia Munns and they had six children. He began work as a heavy equipment operator in 1955 with Robert Munns Construction. Bud married Elaine Reckamp. He worked in the road construction industry until he was 75 years old and loved being in the dirt.

Bud enjoyed playing pinochle, spending time on his Ipad and playing his video poker game. He liked fishing and hunting and loved having his dog, Stevie, as a companion.

Bud is survived by his wife, Elaine; children, Craig of Adrian, Brad of Luverne, Lisa (Mike) Thiner of Fostoria, IA, Mark of Adrian, Russell (Vivian) Reckamp of Adrian, Rick (Linda) Reckamp and Ronald (Cindy) Reckamp of Storm lake, IA; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; four siblings, Alvin (Vernice) of Lismore, Jim (Ann) of Marshall, Bill (Peg) of Chanhassen and Mary Jane (Richard) Entwisle of Brandon, SD.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Olivia and William; two sons, Jeff and Mike; two brothers and their wives, Linus (Ronnie) and Larry (Maxine).
