Dylan Gyberg represented the Adrian Dragons for the second consecutive season as he competed in the 2017 MSHSL State Individual Tournament last weekend.
The Dragon senior faced off against Jonathan Smid of Blackduck-Cass Lake-Bena in the first round. Gyberg was the more offensive wrestler in the match, but Smid was a master at countering all of the offensive attacks that Dylan threw at him, defeating the Dragon senior by a 8-0 margin. Smid would win in the quarterfinals, keeping Gyberg alive in the tournament.
Dylan faced Tyler VanLuik of Minnewaska in the wrestlebacks. After a 0-0 first period, VanLuik was able to earn near fall points in the second period over the Dragon senior. An escape and a takedown in the final period would end the match with VanLuik on top by a 6-0 margin, eliminating Dylan from the tournament. Congratulations go out to the Dragon senior on his accomplishments over the course of his career.
