Funeral services for Duane R. Klooster, age 60, of rural Rushmore, were held Saturday, November 25, 2017, at the Dingmann Funeral Home, in Worthington, MN, officiated by Pastor Galen Smith. Burial was at the Grand Prairie Cemetery in Ellsworth, MN. Duane died Monday, November 20, 2017, at Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD.
Duane was born October 15, 1957, in Luverne, MN to Donald and Florabell (Sudenga) Klooster. Duane attended elementary school in Sioux Falls, SD, until his family moved to Minnesota. He attended Adrian Schools, graduating from Adrian High School in 1975. He then helped on the family farm. Duane had a long term career as a courier for FedEx in Sioux Falls. He purchased the family farm in 1992.
Duane was united in marriage to Lori Schild on August 9, 1997 in Sioux Falls. They made their home on the farm near Rushmore. They had one daughter, Brandi, born on August 8, 1998. He was dedicated to taking care of his mother and the family farm. Before retiring in 2012, Duane delivered propane for the Coop in Rushmore. He continued to farm up until his death.
His passion was spending time with Brandi. He enjoyed living on the farm and caring for his homestead. He was also an avid Vikings fan and enjoyed watching action movies.
Duane is survived by his daughter, Brandi Klooster, Worthington; his brother, Darrell (Lisa) Klooster, West Des Moines, IA; two nephews, A.J. Klooster and Ben Klooster; and several aunts, uncles & cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents and several aunts and uncles.
