Dragons shine in final home meet of the year

On Tuesday, September 29, the Dragons held their final home meet of the season. The meet was also the largest of the three meets held at the Adrian County Club. MCC/Fulda and SWC/Edgerton were the visitors.

The meet began with the junior high girls race. Lucy Thier, Olivia Bullerman, and Keyona Klingenberg came up big yet again for the young Dragons as they took the first three places and ran 9:01. 9:02, and 9:20 respectively. The fourth runner was Mikaiah VanDyke as she paced the 2,100 meter course in 10:37 in 12th place. Jozie Cuperus was the final scorer running 11:04. Kaitlyn Taylor finished in 15:02 and Brooklyn Oddson in 16:13. The Junior High girls won the meet over SWC by 1 point, 29 to 30.
The Junior High boys were next on the course. Darwin Demarrius was the top boy across the line placing 5th in 8:49. 7th, 8th, and 9th place belonged to Nate Onken (10:00), Ben Brinkhous (10:02), and Jack Rahe running 11:13. Karson Altman and Cael Hendel ran closely together in 11:53 and 11:54. The team placed 2nd with 35 total points.

The varsity girls were up against tough MCC/F and SWC/E teams. Hiltyn Heitkamp was the top girl for A/E placing 16th in 24:40. Taya Elias had another good day, running 25:10. Hunter Penning and Gracia Elias worked together throughout and ran 26:31 and 26:44 respectively. Isabel Thier completed her 5,000 meter run in 30:28 and Kaysie Lenz ran 33:20.

On the boy’s side, Dylan Graff gave a top notch effort to place 2nd overall in the field of 33, running 20:13. Linkin Bossert was very close, placing 3rd in 20:20. Micah Onken kept up his consistently strong season in 22:13, placing 11th. Cole Boltjes ran 24:12 and Bruce Farinella ran 26:36.
