The Dragon volleyball team just finished another record setting season with a second place finish at the Section 3A tournament finals.
The Dragons earned their spot at the Section 3A final with a thrilling five set win over Tracy-Milroy Balaton on Thursday, October 31st. The Dragons fell behind with a slow start allowing the Panthers to pull ahead with two set lead 22-25 and 7-25. But the Dragons would claw their way back to put the Panthers down in the next three sets 25-20, 25-22 and 16-14.
Kasie Tweet led the Dragons offensively with 45 set assists. Leading in kills were Marisa Lehnhoff and Bailey Lonneman with 13 apiece. Brianna Reckamp, Shawna Rogers and Kasie Tweet each added 6 kills to the Dragon stats sheet.
Defensively the Dragons left nothing untouched with Mayssa Tweet scooped up 42 digs followed by rianna Reckamp with 23, Shawna Rogers 21, Kasie Tweet 28 and Jennifer Preuss 17 digs. Maddie Wagner put up 7 blocks.
On Saturday, November 2 the Dragons travelled to Marshall to take on volleyball powerhouse Minneota Vikings in the Section 3A finals. The Dragons kept their heads up and fought the good fight but were unable to keep the momentum on their side of the court falling to the Vikings in three sets 25-13, 25-10 and 25-14.
Marisa Lehnhoff led the Dragons with 8 kills followed by Brianna Reckamp with 5 and Bailey Lonneman 3. Kasie Tweet had the magic fingers for the Dragons and added 20 set assists to her stats as a Dragon.
Mayssa Tweet pulled in 15 digs followed by Brianna Reckamp and Shawna Rogers with 10 apiece. Jennifer Preuss had 8 digs in the contest.
The Dragon volleyball team made the Adrian community proud. Their success on the court was due in great part to their one team one family mentality always keeping the team first. Congratulations on a very successful season.
