Dragons force Wildcats to 5 sets
The Lady Dragons, the 11th seed, traveled to HL-O on Monday, October 24 to face off against the Wildcats, the 6th seed, in the first round of sub-sections. The Dragons came out swinging in the first set and held on as long as they could, but HL-O’s aggressive serving bested the Dragons in the first set 21-25.
The thrilling second set had Adrian fans on their feet as the Dragons were down 18-24. Perfect serving by Kasie Tweet and great defense by the Dragons led them to a second set victory 26-24. The third set of the night was close again as it was a battle of the defenses. HL-O won the third set 20-25. The Dragons were not done yet and came back in the fourth set with tough serves to win 25-22. The fifth set left the Dragons mystified as HL-O won 4-15. Miah Kunkel led the Dragons with 10 kills, Paige Bullerman had 8 kills, and Kasie Tweet had 6 kills. Tweet served 24-24 with 1 ace, Lexi Slater served 11-12 with 1 ace, and Bullerman served 5-6 with 3 aces. Avery Balster led the Dragons defensively with 20 digs, while Kunkel picked up 14 digs. The Dragons ended their season 4-13. The volleyball banquet will be held Sunday, November 13 in the elementary commons at 6 p.m.
