Behind a career high 24-point effort from junior guard Hannah Bullerman, the Adrian girls won their second consecutive game in 2017 by defeating their southern rivals Ellsworth Panthers. Outscoring their opponents by 12 (32-20) in the opening period, the Dragons made it hold up for a 51-44 win. With the win, Adrian moves their Red Rock Conference record to 4-2, while upping their overall record to 5-7.
Ellsworth claimed an early lead by scoring the games first seven points; back-to-back three pointers, followed by a freethrow made it a 7-0 lead for the visitors at the 14:58 mark.
A Hannah Bullerman freethrow broke the scoring drought for the Dragons as they strung a 9-0 run together to take a two-point lead. Sophomore Miah Kunkel contributed four straight points that were followed by a pair of freethrows from Paige Bullerman, and when Mikayla Jeffers netted her first basket of the game, it made it 9-7 in Adrian’s favor.
With Hannah Bullerman connecting on two consecutive three-pointers and Lexi Slater making two straight fieldgoals to finish the first half, the Dragons extended their lead to 12 points (32-20), outscoring Ellsworth 24-13 in the first half’s final eight minutes.
