Dragon Football holds end of the year banquet

The 2017 Adrian Dragon football team held it’s annual end of the year banquet Sunday night at the Countryside.

Coach Henrichs started things off by giving a recap of the JV season.  The JV finished with a record of 3-2, with wins coming against TMB, Luverne, and MCC.

Coach Kruger was up next as he presented a certificate to the managers, video boys, and statisticians.  Managers were; Cameron Wieneke, Brock Henning, Rilee Heidebrink, Quentin Wolf, Jaren Winselman, and Breyer Hieronimus.  Jonathon and Joshua Horn took care of the videos for the team, while the stats were kept by  Emily Lebrun, Kristina Cauwels, Elizabeth Erwin, McKinley Nelson, Emma Madtson, and Alysha Wieneke.

Coach Schettler then gave a rundown of the 2017 season with letter winners to follow.  Lettering for the Dragons were; seventh grade- Joshua Horn, Sophomores-  Emily Lebrun, Kristina Cauwels, Emma Madtson, Elizabeth Erwin, Scot Edwards, Lance Luettel, Brandon Schnoor, Ian Stamer, Dominiq Canales; Juniors- McKinley Nelson, Jonathon Horn, Skylar Dingmann, Devin Frodermann, Dakota John, Trace Kremin, Levi Mathews, Braxton Vortherms, Tucker Wieneke, Bryce Wilson, Chandler Combs; and Seniors- Nick Harder, Skylar Polzine, Michael Preuss, Landon Rogers, Chance Turner, Brendyn White, Ryan Wieneke, and David Harrington.

Awards followed the letter winners as each award winner received a plaque.  “350’s Man of the Year” went to Chance Turner, Skylar Dingmann, and Bryce Wilson.  “Varsity Training Camp Players of the Year” were Ryan Wieneke, Chance Turner, and Landon Rogers.  “JV Training Camp Players of the Year” were Ian Stamer and Brandon Schnoor. “Defensive Lineman of the Year” was won by Landon Rogers.  “Defensive Back” of the year was claimed by Ryan Wieneke. “Offensive Lineman of the Year” was taken home by Lance Luettel while Landon Rogers earned “Offensive Back of the Year.”  Landon Rogers and Dominiq Canales both got “Special Teams Player of the Year.”  While “Mr. Fire” went to Nick Harder.  The “2017 MVP” was split between Ryan Wieneke and Landon Rogers.

After awards came the recognition of the players that earned all-district honors.  Ryan Wieneke and Landon Rogers both earned first team all-district.  Nick Harder and Lance Luettel were all-district honorable mention.  Skylar Polzine, Dakota John, and Tucker Wieneke made the all-district academic team.

The coaches of the Dragon football team would like to thank the parents of each player, manager, statistician, and video boys for their support during the 2017 season.
