Jim &Lorna Van Der Linden were in Pierre South Dakota recently to attend the graduation of their son, Matthew, from the George S Mickelson Law Enforcement Academy on Friday May 31.  Matthew is the Chief of Police in Leola, South Dakota where he lives with his wife Heather & children, John, Cheyenne, Grace &Wyatt.  

Jim & Lorna took in the Rhubarb Festival in Leola on Saturday & were able to attend the baptism of Wyatt on Sunday June 2.  Wyatt was born on February 26.  It was a family reunion as Eric was also able to attend from Sioux Falls & Katie from Minneapolis.  

They took an extensive tour of the South Dakota Capitol & had a great weekend.   

The next two Saturdays the main street of Lismore will be alive with activity.   On June 22nd the “Cancer Doesn’t Discriminate” motorcycle and hot rod ride will begin at noon with a burger bar following.  Proceeds from the event help ease the financial burden that comes with fighting the disease.  More information can be obtained by visiting their website: www.cancerdoesntdiscriminate.org or by calling Lonnie or Regan at 507-827-2697.

  The 10th annual motorcycle ride in honor of Steve Lenz will be held on the following Saturday, June 29th.  There will be food, prizes, raffles and entertainment.  Everyone is invited to ride or just come and watch the parade of cycles and cars as they depart from Main Street at noon.  

Steve & Laurie Wieneke, Carmen Wieneke, and her friend Orey were spectators at the Minnesota State golf tournament at Pebble Creek Golf Club in Becker last week.  Katie Wieneke and Ben Henning were the participants who represented Adrian High School.

  Deb Lutmer was a Friday overnight guest in the home of her sister, Vicki Dew in Willmar.   

Advanced tickets for the “Old-School Shindig” are available at the Lismore Bar, the State Bank of Lismore, Adrian Hardware Hank and Big Orv’s.  The event will take place on July 4th on the old school grounds with music beginning at 12 noon.  WWII veterans and anyone over 90 years old are admitted FREE.  Bring your lawn chair and enjoy an afternoon of country music.

  Ruth Hubbling participated in the Rock County Relay For Life walk on Friday evening as part of the “Hubbling Herd”.  They walked in memory of Ruth’s brother Jim, his wife Ruth, and her sister-in-law, Minnie Hubbling.  

Marv & Pearl Wieneke spent the weekend at the home of their daughter, Vickie & Kevin Viaene in Cottage Grove.  ON Saturday, Marv showed at a horse show in North Branch and in the evening they attended the dance recital of their granddaughters, Mackenzie and Jaydah.

  Tammi Kremin's mom, Sandi Walker, passed away on June 10th in Sioux Falls at the Avera Mckennan Hospital.  Sandi and her husband, Stan, and their family moved to Lismore in the early 90’s and stayed until their recent move to Sioux Falls.  She enjoyed writing, painting, spending time outdoors, but most of all being surrounded by her family.  She is survived by her husband, Stan, and her four daughters, Shelli (Coarsegold, CA), Tammi (Lismore), Amy (Rock Rapids, IA) and Melissa (Bigelow) and grandchildren. Blessed be her memory.  

Ray & Bette LeBrun attended the funeral for John Scheffler on Thursday of last week at the church of St. Boniface in Cold Springs, MN.  They were Saturday evening guests at the Jim & Anne LeBrun home to celebrate an early Father’s Day.  Other guests included:  Alex LeBrun of Lismore, Jack LeBrun of Sioux Falls, Bill & Patty LeBrun and Miranda & Morgan of Reading and Marty & Josie LeBrun and Emily of Adrian.   The food was shared by all and delicious as usual!

  The Lismore Booster Club will be sponsor another free outdoor movie on Friday, June 21st.  The feature film will be “Grease” with a start time of about 9:15.  Bring your own refreshments, snacks and a lawn chair or blanket and enjoy the movie on the large big screen.

Celebrating Father's Day at a noon dinner at their home in Lismore were: Earl Erdman, a resident of the Minnesota Veterans Home in Luverne, his wife, Joyce, Pam & Mark Luettel of Adrian, Jennifer Luettel & Jason Greenfield of Lake Crystal.  Afternoon visitors were: Peggy & Mark Meyer and Tasha & Vern Schutte of Rushmore, Matthew Meyer of Sioux Falls, SD, Gail Erdman of Primghar, IA and Randy Egenes of Hawarden, IA.  Visiting his dad at the Minnesota Veterans Home on Saturday was Mike Erdman of Lismore and Heather Kilffer of Leota.  

Sioux Falls hosted a Color Vibe 5k run on Saturday, June 15th at the W.H. Lyon Fairgrounds.  Color Vibe is a 5k run with no pressure to hurry….just enjoy the craziness of it all.  Participants are splashed with colors as they pass various stations.  A few of those with connections to Lismore that participated were: Tammi, Kelsey & Amanda Altman,  Heidi Broesder and Camdyn, Lindsay (Loosbrock) Henning, Jessica & Mike Andring, Carol and Alisha Tweet, Amber Hazel, Natalie Lynn, Joe Henning and Ashley Thier ( there may have been others from the Lismore area as well).  Over 8,000 runners joined together to help this year's charity--Children's Care.
