Earl Erdman of the Minnesota Veterans Home of Luverne and his wife Joyce of Lismore are proud great-grandparents again! This time their grandson, Justin & Meredith Jonas of Sheldon, IA are parents of a new daughter, Claire Brielle, born Tuesday June 4th. Little Claire has a sister Brooke. Grandparents are Gail Erdman, Primghar, IA and Mark & Betsy Jonas of Brandon, SD.

Laurie Wieneke and her daughter, Katie, enjoyed a few days with Laurie’s sister, Cathy Bruns in Castle Rock, Colorado. Cathy and Katie attended the Taylor Swift concert. The Wieneke’s also visited with Jessica Balster in Denver. Jessica is the daughter of Laurie’s brother, Steven.

The community of Lismore extends their sympathy to the family of Roger McHarg. Roger lost his battle with cancer at the age of 69. A Vietnam veteran, Roger worked as a heavy machine operator following his discharge until he retired in 2010. Roger was a recycler and salvager long before recycling was “cool”. He was a member of the American Legion and served a term on the Lismore city council. Roger enjoyed his family, fishing, hunting, collecting guns and arrowheads, and watching the Minnesota Twins and Vikings. He is survived by his wife, Polly, and his daughters, Carmelle of Blue Earth, and Lottie & Glen Petersen of Tyler and their three sons. Blessed by his memory.

Deb Lutmer spent the weekend with her sister, Vicki Dew, a patient in the Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar.

Advanced tickets for the “Old-School Shindig” are available at the Lismore Bar, the State Bank of Lismore, Adrian Hardware Hank and Big Orv’s. The event will take place on July 4th on the old school grounds with music beginning at 12 noon. WWII veterans and anyone over 90 years old are admitted FREE. Bring your lawn chair and enjoy an afternoon of country music.

There’s something about the Diekmann boys and their love of baseball..and proposing to their girlfriends using a baseball theme. Not long ago, Brandon proposed to Lydia Messner at the Lismore ball diamond (they are now married) and recently Adam asked Blake Ahlers to be his wife in front of a crowd of Wilmont Cardinal fans. Teammates helped Adam pull off his engagement proposal by making sure Blake’s name was pulled out of a hat to throw out the first pitch of the season. Following the pitch, Adam strolled out to the mound and got down on his knee to pop the question. She said yes! What a great proposal and fun story to tell in the years to come!

Linda Bartl, Mitchell, SD visited with her mother, Darleen Lutmer in the Adrian Country Cottages and was a “working guest” in the family home on Saturday.

Congratulations to the Lismore athletes earning All-Conference honors this spring: They include: Jacob Bullerman-Diekmann, son of Dan & Stephani for baseball; Dillon John (James & Shelly), Morgan & Megan Sauer (Barry & Kerry) and Christina Loonan (Bill & Ravette), all of track.

Congratulations to Herman & Eileen Wieneke (formerly of rural Lismore) on their 45th wedding anniversary. Anniversary greetings may be sent to them at PO Box 94, Ellsworth, MN 56129.
