Dragons win over Panthers

February 23, 2013

The Adrian boys will play their last home game on Friday, February 22nd vs. Mountain Lake Area.
The Adrian Dragons varsity boys basketball team defeated Ellsworth 66-53 at Adrian in Red Rock Conference play.

Adrian controlled the first half 36-20 with Brady Lonneman scoring four treys and Taylor Recker denting the net for 11 counters.

In the second half the Panthers out-scored Adrian 33 to 30.

Double figure scorers for the Dragons were Taylor Recker with 18, Brady Lonneman 18, Collin Kemper 14, and Nick Reyne 11.

The Panthers placed Johnathon Kramer with 19 counters and Daniel Kramer with 13 points. Drew Cheskie added 9 points to round out the top three scorers.

Adrian shot 38% (21-53) with nine treys. Ellsworth shot 27% (18-66). The Panthers dented the nets for 6 treys.

The Dragons were 15-17 for 88% from the free throw line compared to Ellsworth’s 61% (11-18).

Adrian was charted with 34 caroms to Ellsworth’s 24. Brady Lonneman and Taylor Recker each grabbed eleven boards.

Nick Reyne paced the winners with eight assists.

The Dragons turned the ball over only nine times to Ellsworth’s ten.

The coaching staff was very proud of the Dragon’s floor play.

“It was a nice win for the parents on “Parent’s Night,” stated Coach Schnaible.
