Melissa Weidert and her fiancé, Mike Einck, participated in the 4th annual Deep Freeze Dip on Lake Okabena on Saturday.  The event is part of the Worthington Winterfest.  Melissa and Mike raised over $1,500 toward the team goal of $25,000.  The dollars raised will go to The Jamie Cummings Learn to Swim Program for the second year in a row.  Previous dollars supported the SW MN Honor Flight, which sent WWII Veterans to their memorial in Washington, DC.  Especially memorable this year, was that the event took place on the birthday of Melissa’s best friend, Bethany Feit who died in a car accident eleven years ago. Bethany loved kids and raising money to help them learn to swim would have made her proud.

Nick Loonan and Erika Henning, Chicago, IL were surprise visitors on Saturday afternoon in the Vera Loonan home. They were in the area for the weekend for Erika's brother, Brent Henning's wedding reception in Wilmont on Saturday evening.

Congratulations to Darleen Lutmer on another great-granddaughter.  Darin Wieneke & his wife, Maria Vu of St. Paul welcomed Adrian Deborah on January 10th.  She has an older sister, Kaia to spoil her. Frank & Debby Wieneke of rural Adrian are the proud grandparents.

Our sympathy to Diana Wieneke of North Mankato (formerly of Lismore) and her family on the loss of her mother, Doris Lavallee.  Doris died Saturday, Dec. 29th in Burlington, VT and is survived by her six daughters.  Blessed be her memory.

Be sure to notice the play ‘n pack in the back of St. Anthony’s church. The Catholic Daughters are collecting donations for the Helping Hands Pregnancy Center in Worthington.   The display will be set up until February 11th.  Everyone is invited to participate.

Dave & Deb Lutmer, Cody Lutmer of Lismore and Vicki Dew of Willmar were Saturday guests in the home of Carol Giroux and Darrel Johnson in Wheaton.  The three sisters attended a baby shower for their grandson/great nephew, Jordan & Brittany Boyle. The first time parents are expecting a son in Feb.  The American Red Cross Bloodmobile will be in Lismore on Tuesday, Jan. 29th. To make an appointment, please call Avis Stoffel at 472-8733.  Why should you give blood?  Because it is something you can spare, you will help ensure there is blood on the shelf when needed and you could help save more than one life with just one donation!

Congratulations to first time parents, Justin & Paige Hoffman, on the birth of their first child, Braxton John.  Proud grandparents are Chuck & Arlys Hoffman of rural St. Kilian.

There will be no American Legion Auxiliary meeting during the month of January.
