Nice to have Merry (Hunter) Bellig come to the meal site to greet her mom and other friends last week. She came especially to pick up her mom Deranda and take her back to Minneapolis for the Thanksgiving holiday.

Tony and Darla Parsley want to thank everyone who donated coats, boots, mittens, gloves and “hoodies” and put them in their garage. Darla said some were new with the price tags still on them!! The truck from Rock Valley’s “Justice for All” came and loaded over 200 coats. They also picked up boxes at Closet to Closet. Thank you Tony and Darla for this great work of charity! You will be blessed.

Two dear, kind ladies from St. Adrian’s Ladies Aid made dozens of “ditty bags” and filled them and then delivered them to the St. Francis House in Sioux Falls! “Ditty bags” are small bags that are tied at the top and filled with a towel, wash cloth, soap, shampoo, comb, tooth paste and brush etc. that a homeless person would need. Perhaps some people come for a warm meal and would appreciate a shower at some mission and they would receive a “ditty bag”. Thank you ladies, you will be blessed!

Pinochle scores for Thursday, November 15th had a big change. The gals beat the guys! 1st place: Bev Metz and Sue Egan, 2nd place: Dolly Peters and Jerry Murphy, 3rd place: Bruce Olson and Frannie Lonneman and 4th place: Steve Banck and Jim Reese. That first place looks good!! How about more gals playing? Remember Thursdays at 7 pm.

Father Beerman celebrated a Mass for the deceased members of the Catholic Daughters on Thursday, November 15th at 6:15pm followed by exposition of the Holy Eucharist and a meeting followed in the church parlor. Many plans were made for the following months. Delicious desserts were served by Mary Nealy and Renee Wolf.

Loretta Gengler accompanied Joan Schock and her daughter to Burke, SD to attend the funeral of Richard Stanek, age 98. The funeral was held Wednesday, November 14th at the Clausen Funeral Home in Burke, SD. Officiating was Pastor Justin Gosch. Richard was married to Marie Schock in Naper, NE. the couple had no children of their own but had several step-children and their spouses as well as several step-grandchildren, step-great grandchildren and step greatgreat grandchildren! Blessed be the memory of Richard Stanek.

Etta Schroeder accompanied her son Kevin to a beautiful service of gratitude that was held November 12th at the Minneapolis Convention Center Auditorium in Minneapolis, MN. The service was to honor the donors who donated their bodies for the continuing education of medical doctors and dentists. Etta and her late husband Dave made that decision before he became ill. It is a very special and rewarding decision and they have been approached by quite a few doctors thanking them for their unselfish act. Each survivor’s family was given a small paper ornament filled with wildflower seeds with instructions to plant them in the spring. It is a reminder of what the donor has done to improve medical and dental services to all!

Congratulations to Cate Koehne for being named Teacher of the Year! What a great honor to a great teacher!

The Adrian Public School system is so fortunate to have these two very special and talented ladies! It is my joy to write about these two ladies. They will be blessed.

Don’t forget to donate to the Sandy disaster relief fund. I sent a check to the Worthington Red Cross and received a thank you in four days.

My good friend Jordan Pater ran his way to the Nationals in Vancouver, WA on November 17th! The November 11 edition of the Review listed all his accomplishments since he started to run in the 6th grade! The Review will have more on his trip to Nationals next week.

Too much football? I was watching Pittsburgh and Baltimore at 10:30pm! The quarterback for Pittsburgh was Leftwick, I thought that was two names Left Wick! Another player name was Foote. The Pittsburgh Steelers had new yellow and black striped shirts and yellow and black leggings. I thought they looked like a swarm of bumble bees! Really time to go to bed, too much can make a person dizzy!

Our friend Carolyn Elias had surgery last week and is mending well. How about a card to her home at: 206 W. 8th St in Adrian, 56110. We wish you a speedy recovery!
