The Flying Farmers Fun Fly may be one of the area's best kept secrets. For two days in August, radio control model enthusiasts and fans gather at the Boldt International Air Field, located in rural Rushmore.

The Boldt International Air Field is a well-maintained grass covered flying area, surrounded by fields, located on Dave Boldt's acreage.

Dave Boldt, long-time member of the Southwest High Flyers Radio Control Model Airplane Club, said that the group started hosting the Fun Fly event 22 years ago. "At first just five fliers got together. Now, close to 50 people come out here to fly." When people aren't watching the models, they can enjoy a beautiful view of the countryside.

Dave opens up his entire farm for the event. He says that, "There's 15 campers and a tent set up in the yard. Some come in on Wednesday and stay until Sunday." During the day, people get out their lawn chairs and set up shade tents that line the length of the flying field. Concessions are available too.
