Congratulations to the State Bank of Lismore for earning national recognition as being one of the most financially safe banks in America, according to MSN Money. President Mark Loosbrock credits his employees for the success of the bank, which was chartered in December 1900. A family institution, the State Bank of Lismore currently has fourth generation bankers on board.  Mark and his sons, Andy and Matt, along with nephew, Troy are continuing the Loosbrock tradition of providing exceptional customer service to the Lismore area and beyond.

  Jack & Nancy Brake are the proud grandparents of little Benjamin Jack born on July 25th to Ann & Dan Studnicka of Shakopee.   His happy and helpful sister, Sophia is 2 years old. Jack & Nancy spent Thursday & Friday becoming acquainted with their new grandson.  Congratulations!

The first Old School Shindig was a success with over $500 being donated to the Adrian Country Cottages for patio improvements.  Matching funds will be added from HRA.  Thanks to all who attended and thank you, Gloria, for the fun 4th of July party! Our communities were saddened by the loss of Montana Honermann, daughter of Jade & Tonya (Bruhn) of Magnolia and the critical injuries suffered by Shelby Schieck, daughter of Ann (Klein) and the late Terry Schieck of Adrian.  Our thoughts and prayers are extended to these families.  

Anna Sauer was recently elected Student Government Association Vice President at Southeast Technical Institute in Sioux Falls for the 2012-2013 school year.  Anna is the daughter of Barry & Kerry Sauer and is in her second year studying horticulture and landscape design. 

  Nina Weidert returned home from being a staff member at Camp Peterson, a church camp for boys & girls going into 7th grade.  The camp is located on Lake Washington near Mankato.  Nina, a 2012 AHS graduate and the daughter of Jim & Kris, was one of the campers herself in 2006 and has since returned to be a staffer in 2010, 2011 and 2012.  

Television station KDLT of Sioux Falls, SD recently aired a story on the lives of sailors.  One sailor interviewed happened to be Jenny (Weiss) Stone, daughter of Vickie & Ken Leinen of Lismore and Rick & Jenny Weiss of Rochester.  Jenny is aboard the USS John C. Stennis, which sails the Pacific Ocean and serves to protect our waterways and ensures free trade.  Jenny's duties include to "chalk and chain" when moving aircraft in the hangar bay or on the flight deck. She is in her third year of service and finds it very rewarding. Thank you, Jenny for serving our country!

  The Lismore Booster Club will be sponsoring a Burger Feed prior to a free outdoor movie on Friday, August 3rd as part of Old Home Day weekend. Pre-movie games will consist of Wii Mario Cart racing on the large screen, washer toss and golf toss.  The burger feed will include homemade fries and ice cream, too!! Mark your calendars to join your friends and neighbors for great food, good company and the free movie, Journey 2 The Mysterious Island, under the stars.  A street dance will follow on Saturday night near the Lismore Bar. 

  An open house bridal shower will be held at the Legion Hall from 10:00-noon on Saturday, August 4th for Chris Timmer, bride-to-be of Matt Loosbrock.  Everyone is invited to attend.  

The ladies of the 1st Presbyterian church will be showcasing an array of salads at their annual free will offering salad supper on Monday, August 20th beginning at 6:30 p.m. in the Legion Hall.  All area women (and men, too) are welcome!   

It’s not too early to mark your calendar for the St. Anthony Church Bazaar and Auction on September 9th.  Excellent meal, fun games, unique auction items and good company are a sure deal!  

Congratulations to Ken Knuth, Chairman of the Board for Finley Engineering, Slayton, who was awarded the 2012 OPASTCO Lifetime Achievement Award at their Summer Convention in Minneapolis. The Lifetime Achievement Award recognizes an industry leader for outstanding accomplishments and contributions to advancing the independent telecommunications industry at the local, community and state levels.  Ken was instrumental in advising the Lismore Cooperative Telephone Company in the early 1990’s when they became investors in the Midwest Wireless cellular industry.  Those early decisions proved to be beneficial to the local phone company and it’s stockholders.  Thank you Ken and congratulations on a well-deserved award!

  Congratulations to Lee & Shanelle (Davis) Henning as they were married at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Lismore on Saturday.  The couple makes their home in Lismore where Lee is the owner of Lee’s Locker.  

Dylan Johnson, a 2012 Adrian High School graduate is in basic training with the US Marines.  His address is:  Rec Johnson Dylan J, 2nd Bn Hotel Co PLT 2165, 36001 Midway Ave, San Diego, CA 92140-2165.  Dylan is the son of Patty Johnson and the grandson of Darleen Lutmer.
