Minneapolis-based Copper Street Brass (CSB) represents a new direction in chamber music. Combining classical music with jazz, pop and rock music, the CSB will be performing their hit touring program, “Evolution in Concert” on Monday, April 23rd at 7:00 PM in the Adrian High School Gymnasium. Concert admission is free.
The group plays music ranging from traditional classical music to toe-tapping jazz, and stunning folk melodies to modern pop and rock mega-hits. The CSB shatters the divide between listener and performer with lively banter from stage as well as audience interaction. The musicians of CSB not only perform on trumpets, horn, trombone, and tuba, but also keyboard, guitar, drums, and electronics – enabling the group to provide the listener with a wide array of sounds and timbres. All of the group’s music is arranged and composed by and for themselves to create a truly unique sound that is undeniably Copper Street Brass.
Copper Street Brass is a full-time arts ensemble based in Minneapolis. They perform over 40 concerts and school lyceums for students kindergarten through college each year. Often on extended residencies in small and under-served communities, CSB is proud to bring their music to audiences and students who normally would not hear professional musicians live.
“They’re a small group whose smart programming and bright personalities have taken the brass quintet to a new level,” said Steve Staruch, classical MPR host.
