Memorial services for Clarence Prestin, Jr., age 85, of Temple, TX were held on Wednesday, January 23, 2019, at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen, TX. Clarence was born March 3, 1933, in Lakeview, IA the son of Clarence Prestin and Angeline (Bruns) Prestin. He joined the United States Army in 1958 and retired in 1978. He served two tours of Vietnam. During retirement he also worked for the civil service, had his own painting business and enjoyed working as a school crossing guard.
He married Shirley Seely on February 20, 1964 in Junction City, KS. He loved his family, fishing, baseball, grilling and gardening. He was a long time member of Harker Heights United Methodist Church.
Clarence is survived by two daughters, Eva (Phillip “Sonny” III) Scott and Angela (Charles) Kosiek; four sons, Robert (Rosie) Prestin; Jim Prestin; Jerry Prestin and Jon Prestin; one sister, Iva Barber; two brothers, Ken (Mary) Sieve, and Darwin (Mary) Sieve; and six grandchildren, Justin Hyde; Kristin Hyde; Robert “Robbie” Prestin Jr; Zoe Prestin; KoKo Scott and Coby Scott.
He was preceded in death by his wife Shirley of 49 years on May 8, 2013.
Dossman Funeral Home in Belton, TX was in charge of the arrangements.
