Cecelia Altman

Cecelia Altman, age 81, of Lismore, died Tuesday, September 13, 2016, at the Sanford Luverne Hospice Cottage. She was born February 1, 1935, in Larkin Township, to Charles and Clara (Bullerman) Henning. She graduated from St. Adrian Catholic High School in 1953. Cecelia graduated from Rochester Vocational Nursing School (Mayo at St. Mary’s) in 1954. She moved to Illinois with a roommate and worked in a hospital for six months before returning to St. Mary’s to work for a year. She later worked as an LPN at the Adrian Hospital from 1955 to 1958.
Cecelia met Glen J. Altman at the Ritz Ballroom in Lismore and was engaged a year later. The couple married on January 21 1958, at St. Adrian Catholic Church. The couple farmed west of Lismore.
She had also worked at the Mary Jane Brown Home, the Heritage House and the Minnesota Veterans Home, all in Luverne, until retiring in 2007. Cecelia was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Lismore; the WCCW; the Lismore Senior Citizens; and the Project Club. She enjoyed gardening.
Cecelia is survived by her four children, Alan (Jackie) Altman, Luverne; Cliff (Tammi) Altman, Lismore; Patti (David) Olson, Luverne; and Scott Altman, Lismore; eleven grandchildren, Aaron, Phillip, Autumn, Blair, Heidi, Matthew & Kelsey Altman; Lindsey, Melissa & Kirsten Olson; and Hailey Hamann; seven great grandchildren, Jocelyn, Ashton & Braylynn Altman; Camdyn & Grady Broesder; and Annabelle & Brant Altman; eight siblings, Rosie Woltjer, Worthington; Hap (Arlene) Henning, Adrian; Mary Ann Reining, Eagle Bend; Alf (Jeanette) Henning, Worthington; Les (Sandy) Henning, Adrian; Donna Deutsch, Luverne; Betty (Walt) Deutsch, Luverne; and Jean Lupkes, Browerville; four sisters-in-law, Carol Henning, Adrian; Loretta Henning, Sioux Falls, SD; Rosie Henning, Adrian; and Rita Scheffler, Worthington.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Glen on January 12, 2003; daughter, Connie Hamann on April 21, 1997; and three brothers, Norb, Vern & Frank Henning.
Visitation will be Friday from 4:30 to 8 pm, with parish prayers at 4:30 pm, at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Lismore. Visitation also one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Funeral Mass will be 10:30 am Saturday at St. Anthony Catholic Church. Burial will be in the St. Anthony Cemetery.
