Canby Men Handle the Dragons 34 to 12

Lancers score on 1st play from scrimmage

The Canby Lancers came to town sporting a 1 & 3 mark while the Dragons were 3 & 1. It was the Lancers that completely dominated the Dragons from start to finish to win this one 34 to 12.  Canby on the opening play of the game, handed off to Justin Merritt who ran 80 yards for the touchdown.  The Dragons had a difficult time getting into the game.  Sawyer Hansen kicked the PAT and Canby led 7 to 0 at the 11:39 mark of the 1st quarter.

Canby made it 14 to 0 when they used 7 plays to travel 62 yards.  The drive was capped off with a Justin Merritt run of one yard.  Sawyer Hansen kicked the PAT and Canby led 14 to 0.  A big play in the drive was a 37 yard pass from Sawyer Hansen to Adam Durfee.  It was a 5 yard curl, but the Adrian defender fell down trying to make the tackle and Durfee was off to the races.

Adrian put together a drive to try to get back into the game.  The Dragons used 15 plays to go 60 yards with Alex Loosbrock sneaking in from one yard out.  The PAT kick by Adrian’s Dominiq Canales was shanked to the left and the score had Canby leading 14 to 6.

Canby came right back with ease and marched the ball down the field using just 3 plays.  Sawyer Hansen hit Noah Scott for a 47 yard touchdown over the Adrian defensive back.  Canby now led 21 to 6.
