A Mass of Christian Burial for Bruce Allen Spidel, age 65, was held on Friday, October 25, 2019, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Worthington, MN, with Father Jim Callahan officiating. Burial was held in the Worthington Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Bruce passed away on Sunday, October 20, 2019, at Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls, SD. He was born on July 10, 1954, in Portage, WI, the son of Harry and Neola (Markley) Spidel.
Bruce moved with his family to Worthington in 1964. He graduated from Worthington High School and then attended Jackson Vocational Technical School for welding. He served in the United States Navy Seabees from 1974 to 1978 and was stationed in Gulf Port, MS, serving in Guam and Bermuda. Bruce married Lori Cox on October 30, 1982, in Adrian, MN. They were married for 37 years and were blessed with two sons.
Bruce worked for JBS for 35 years and recently retired in April of 2019. He enjoyed carpentry, personalizing coolers and frames for family and friends, riding and working on his motorcycle, and was an avid Minnesota Vikings fan. He loved spending time with his family and grandchildren.
Bruce is survived by his wife, Lori; two sons, Jason (Angie) Spidel and their children, Kaylana, Kailia, Kamia, Kavita, Mya; and Sean and Christopher (Lisa) Spidel and their son, Dylan; sister, Marilynn Sue (Salvador) Bustillos; nephew, Troy Anderson, and niece, Lisa Corez.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Neola; brother, Michael Spidel; nephew, Shad Anderson, and father-in-law, Bill Cox.
