Adrian High School will send two speech students to the Minnesota State High School League tournament on April 20-21, 2018 in Apple Valley, MN. Sophomore Maritza Beltran and Junior Sabdi Bravo qualified for the state tournament in the Section 3A tournament in Tracy, Thursday, April 12.
Students had to place first through third place to move on to state. Maritza finished second in Poetry and Sabdi was third in Informative Speaking. This is Sabdi’s second trip to a state tournament. She earned a sixth place medal in Informative last year.
Six of the eight Adrian students participating in the section earned medals. Sara Knips was sixth in Prose, Jayda Castaway was sixth in Original Oratory, Alexia Kemper was sixth in Extemporaneous Reading and Felicity Alvarado was fifth in Great Speeches. Tristan Thier was a Section qualifier in Discussion and Emma Fuerstenberg was a Section qualifier in Humorous.
