Sixty-six people were in attendance at the William Kent Krueger author talk, held at the Adrian Elementary School on Tuesday, June 7, 2016. Krueger started the evening by telling a little bit about himself. He grew up in a close-knit family that included three siblings and his parents. Among the anecdotes he shared was remembering his parents reading to him and his brother and sisters, especially before bedtime. Their father was a favorite narrator, as he never read a story the way it was written; Krueger learned at a young age that there was no limit to one’s imagination. Krueger’s family moved around a lot when he was young, his teen years were spent in Oregon, then college at Stanford University in California for a year. He followed a girl he was sweet on, to Nebraska (and later married her). Eventually, they ended up in Minnesota, where his wife completed law school. “When I got to Minnesota,” said Krueger, “it was as if I had ‘come home.’ I love Minnesota.”
