Are you open to being involved in area youth ministry?

At a meeting of the Adrian Ministerial Association, an idea to start an ecumenical youth ministry in the Adrian Area was discussed.  Feelers were put out to the area churches looking for adults who would be interested in taking this idea to the next step.  The focus for this year would be to get the group up and running and to hold a youth mission week.  The goal of Mission Week would be to provide services to people in need from the area covered by Adrian High School. The hope of the committee is to recruit more adults to help in the ground work and to get enough interested adults as well as 7th graders through 12th graders to make it possible to complete the projects that are selected.

A little more about Mission Week…..

During the week of June 17-21, beginning at 8:00 a.m., the students and adults will be divided into groups of 5-7 youth and 2 adults and be assigned a project for the day according to interests and skills.  The groups will be sent to their site with the tools needed, lunch, water, everything they would need.  The work day would end around 3:00 p.m. at which time the groups will meet at a designated site to discuss how the day and the project went.  The projects will be photographed and the pictures put into a slideshow at the end of the week

The projects will be determined on a first come basis, how complicated the project, if there are enough people to complete the project, etc.  It is hoped that the group can complete all the projects presented for consideration.

“We are forming an Ecumenical Youth Ministry team in our area.  If your church is open to being a part of this ministry whether as a part of the planning committee or part of the project groups during Mission Week, please don’t hesitate to call.  We are looking for adults who will give of their time to help out, whether it is for the whole week or one day.  We need everyone!  We are also looking for students who are willing to get involved with other class members to help out someone in need.”

If you are interested, the next planning meeting will be held on February 4th at 4:00 p.m. at St. Adrian Ed. Building.  The first Youth Ministry Team meeting is scheduled for February 28th, time and place to be determined.   Please contact one of the following people and let them know you are interested.  It will take all of us to come together in the name of Jesus to help someone in need.  Be the one to start the conversation in your family or with your friends.  Volunteer today.
