The University of Minnesota Extension Beef Team is hosting the 2016 Cattle Feeder Days at the Blue Mound Banquet Center in Luverne on December 14th at 6:00 p.m. The purpose of the forum is to educate producers and those that work with producers about issues within the beef industry.
Speakers will be Ashley Kohls, BQA Coordinator speaking about “Beef quality assurance feedlot assessments.” Dr. Sheri Bundy, Corn Belt Livestock Services will talk about the “impact of feedlot environment on cattle performance. What can management do to alleviate it?” She has stated “feedlots can make adjustments to projections or explain performance on a closeout based on weather data.” Also speaking will be Dr. Sean Montgomery, Corn Belt Livestock Services. His presentation is “strategies to feed and manage cattle in open feedlots.” Jay Bakken, Minnesota Beef Council member from the Hills area commented “this annual meeting has a lot of information for the producer. It is reputable with good speakers and a good opportunity for continuing education and helping producers continue to make improvements within their own businesses.”
