Board Meeting July 16, 2018
Board chair Lenz called the regular meeting of the Adrian Board of Education to order at 6:00 P.M. on July 16, 2018. All members present. Also present were Superintendent Graff, Principals Koehne and Lofthus, staff member T Vollink and T Bertrand.
Motion by Kunkel, seconded by Madison to approve the agenda, motion carried.
Tim Bertrand presented the building and grounds report.
The summer cleaning is progressing well.
Abatement is completed at the High School
Presented a request to move our seasonal custodial employee, A Shunkwiler to full time custodian at the Elementary. Motion by Wolf, seconded by Sieve to hire, motion carried.
Motion by Kruger, seconded by Madison to approve the minutes from the June 18, 2018, motion carried.
Motion by Kunkel, seconded by Wolf to approve the claims and accounts for June 2018 motion carried.
Superintendent Graff presented the June 30, 2018 reports. Motion by Madison, seconded by Bullerman to approve the account balances, motion carried.
Mr. Lofthus presented his Elementary Principal’s report.
Presented a request to advertise for a full time para-professional. Motion by Bullerman, seconded by Kunkel to approve request, motion carried.
Explained the potential need to hire a .75 para-professional for Early Childhood Special Education but would like to wait until August for this determination.
Mrs. Koehne presented the Athletic Director’s Report and her Principal’s Report
Presented a coaching request to hire Nate Reyne as Junior High Boys Basketball coach, pending a favorable background check. Motion by Wolf, seconded by Kunkel to accept coaching assignment, motion carried.
Announced that the Junior High Volleyball coach will not be able to fulfill her coaching assignment and will need to refill this position.
Tim Bertrand is working on the basketball court–restricted area arc. Has it completed in the Middle School Gym and will be doing the Elementary and High School Gyms when the waxing project begins.
Presented the Exemption for Technical Education Instructor through the Service Cooperative for Lynn Heath for Intro to Medical Careers. Motion by Wolf, seconded by Madison to approve Exemption, motion carried.
Presented the Exemption for Technical Education Instructor through the Service Cooperative for Cody Henrichs for Creating Entrepreneurial Opportunities. Motion by Bullerman, seconded by Kunkel to approve Exemption, motion carried
Continued discussion regarding the prom date for the 2018-2019 school year.
Mr. Graff presented his Superintendent’s report:
Presented the revised Parent/Student Handbook. Reviewed the Transportation Loading and Unloading locations for the High School and Elementary, motion by Kunkel, seconded by Kruger to approve Loading and Unloading locations, motion carried. Motion by Kunkel, seconded by Wolf to approve the Parent/Student Handbook for 2018-2019, motion carried.
Presented the revised Staff Handbook. Motion by Kruger, seconded by Madison to approve the Staff Handbook for 2018-2019, motion carried.
Presented the Activities Handbook. Motion by Kunkel, seconded by Madison to approve Activities handbook for 2018-2019, motion carried.
Presented the revised Crisis Management Handbook. Motion by Bullerman, seconded by Sieve to approve the Crisis Management Handbook for 2018-2019, motion carried.
Presented and reviewed the 2018-2019 Long Term Facilities Maintenance Budget for Revenues and Expenditures. Motion by Wolf seconded by Madison to approve the budget, motion carried.
Presented and reviewed the 2018-2019 Long Term Facilities Maintenance Budget Statement of Assurances. Motion by Sieve, seconded by Kruger to approve the Statement of Assurances, motion carried
Presented the resolution Calling for the General Election. Board member Wolf introduced the Resolution Calling for General Elections, seconded by Madison to approve the Resolution Calling for General Elections, upon roll call vote, all voted in favor, motion carried.
Board member Wolf updated the board regarding an upcoming levy referendum. Motion by Wolf, seconded by Kunkel to authorize Superintendent Graff to proceed with the levy referendum planning for the 2018-2019 school year, motion carried.
Presented and explained the Minnesota Department of Education – Identified Official with Authority. Motion by Kruger, seconded by Madison to list Mr. Graff as the Official with Authority, motion carried.
Motion by Madison to amend the agenda to add item H. Adoption of Resolution of Governing Body – Lease Finance Group to the Superintendent’s Report, seconded by Bullerman, motion carried.
Presented the Resolution with Lease Finance Group to finance the purchase of Chrome Books, student furniture (desks), and security cameras, motion by Kunkel, seconded by Bullerman to approve, motion carried.
Motion by Bullerman, seconded by Sieve to adjourn the July meeting of the Adrian Board of Education at 7:04 P.M., motion carried.
