NOVEMBER 18, 2019
Board Vice Chair Wolf called the regular meeting of the Adrian Board of Education to order at 6:01 P.M. on November 18, 2019. Members present: Kunkel, Madison, Wieneke and Wolf. Also present were Superintendent Graff, staff members Thier and Reker.
Board Members Bullerman, Kruger and Lenz were absent.
Motion by Kunkel, seconded by Madison to approve the agenda, motion carried.
Mr. Graff presented the building and grounds report.
Motion by Wieneke, seconded by Kunkel to approve the minutes from the November 21, 2019 meeting with corrections noted, motion carried.
Motion by Madison, seconded by Wieneke to approve the minutes from the November 12, 2019 meeting with corrections noted, motion carried.
Motion by Wieneke, seconded by Kunkel to approve the claims and accounts for October 2019, motion carried.
The October 31, 2019 reports were reviewed. Motion by Kunkel, seconded by Madison to approve the account balances for October 31, 2019, motion carried.
Mr. Graff presented the Elementary Dean of Student’s Report, MS/HS Principal’s report and Activities Director’s report
Discussed bus safety and student traffic on Indiana Avenue. Motion by Wieneke, seconded by Madison to give Cate Koehne permission to visit with the City of Adrian about closing Indiana Avenue during the bus loading time at 3:15 PM, motion carried.
Mr. Graff announced that Mr. Schettler would like to hold Elementary Study Table on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 3:35 to 4:35. This would be staffed by a licensed teacher and run through Community Education. Motion by Kunkel, seconded by Wieneke to begin this program, motion carried.
Presented a request to have Cody Reverts as a volunteer wrestling coach pending background check. Motion by Kunkel, seconded by Madison to approve request, motion carried.
Discussed the participation numbers for the winter sports. Indicated that there may be a need for an additional coach for girls basketball. Motion by Kunkel, seconded to Wieneke to grant permission to hire an additional coach as deemed necessary for the sport, motion carried.
Mr. Graff presented his Superintendent’s report:
Explained the Resolution Establishing Combined Polling Places for Special Elections and why it needs to be adopted. Motion by Madison, seconded by Wieneke to approve resolution, motion carried.
Gave an update on the negotiations with the Local 578 Union.
Presented the Resolution Accepting Donations with a donation from the Music Parent Association in the amount of $300 for the 5A Scholarship. Motion by Kunkel, seconded by Madison, motion carried.
Motion by Kunkel, seconded by Wieneke to adjourn the November meeting of the Adrian Board of Education at 6:15 P.M., motion carried.
