Kay Cox is grateful for the kind and gracious attitude of the Thier Family. She apologizes for the error.
Congratulations to the Adrian 2016 Daily Globe All Area Football Team! Mitchell Wagner and Frank Serrao were named on the Offense Team. Writer Kay Cox noticed that a great great nephew, Logan Stratton was also named on the Luverne Offense Team. He is 6’ 6” and weighs 250 lbs. He also plays defense!
Mitchell Lonneman and Skylar Polzine were also named to the Sub District Academic Team. Great work guys. Adrian also landed seven players on the 2016 Southwest All-Conference Team!
Thank God for a great fall. Fieldwork and repairs were done in beautiful weather. Lets look ahead to a good winter season.
Clarence Bauer, a permanent resident of the Veterans Home in Luverne, was home in Adrian for Thanksgiving dinner. Joining Ruth and Clarence for a great meal was David and Denise Bauer from San Diego, CA, Grace Ann and Daryl Varland from Albert Lea, MN, and Donna Lewis, Adrian, MN. A fun family get-to-gether for Thanksgiving. David and Denise spent several days before flying back to California.
Thanksgiving Day supper guests at the Al and Cindy Cox home were Eileen Hokeness, Kay Cox, Mitchell and Kayla Cox, Marshall and Mason Cox. Lots of good food, lots of laughter with a fireplace putting forth heat and beauty.
Alice Cook had successful knee surgery last Tuesday, November 22rd. She was released several days later. She and Virgil will spend some time at the home of their daughter in Sioux Falls. We wish you a speedy recovery Alice.
Readers – I hope you all read that beautiful article by Gretchen O’Donnell in the Globe of November 23rd. It was titled “All Together Now.” It tells the long story about Pastor Mark Schreiber of St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Worthington and the adoption of three girls to join their family of three boys. It will warm your heart and fill your eyes with tears. Thanks Gretchen O’Donnell.
During the coming Christmas Holiday, take a trip to Luverne to see the remodeled Ford building that is now a History Center. The Nutcracker display is awesome.
Thank God for all the volunteers who put on the free Thanksgiving dinner in Worthington last Thursday for those who were alone or families who need to be with others. Special thanks to Fareway and W-2 Meats for their large donations. For many volunteers this is the highlight of their year to be with friends old and new. Some families have done this for years. God Bless every one.
This writer shed lots of tears on Sunday when Father Beerman told us he would be leaving for another assignment. The four parishes in our cluster will dearly miss him, but he is answering God’s call and we wish him the very best.
Gleaned from the November 16th issue of the Globe:
Writer Jane Moore writes a great story about “Stitching Together Blessings.” Just think what those great ladies of Wilmont have done this past year of 2016. They have made 157 quilts by meeting Wednesday afternoons in the Our Lady of Good Counsel Church basement. They give these beautiful warm quilts away to several organizations. The quilts are blessed by their priest, Father Andrew Beerman. I’m sure Father Andy has several quilts given to him. Wilmont ladies are to be praised and thanked by all of us in this area. In fact, this writer, Kay Cox, won a lovely quilt made by Carol Balster a few years ago. It made a wonderful wedding gift for a granddaughter. God Bless all the quilt makers in Wilmont.
