John Cox and son Matthew of McLean, Virginia flew into Sioux Falls last Friday to spend a long weekend at the Al and Cindy Cox home.  When John was young and living in Chicago, he spent a few summers at the Cox farm.  He and Matthew made the rounds to visit relatives here in Adrian.

Wonderful story about the Wagner Farm in last week’s Daily Globe’s “Today’s Farm” section.  The Wagner’s are celebrating 100 years of farming under the Wagner name!  A must read story!  There are also stories about other century farms such as the Doeden’s, Schillings, Langseth’s, Burmeister’s and the Diemer’s farm.

“Celebration of Life” for the late Jane Kellen was held at the beautiful farm home of John & Darcy Kellen.  Relatives, neighbors, classmates and friends gathered Saturday afternoon to share memories of Jane who died of cancer May 28th in California.  Jane is survived by a son, Brian and family and a daughter, Tara.  Her siblings are Barb, Teresa, Mary and John and their families.  Many stories were shared by the folks who are friends of the Kellen’s.  Blessed be the memory of Jane Kellen.

A good hot breakfast was served at the Legion Post #32 on Sunday morning, June 26th.  Lots of hot coffee and lots of chatter made for a good time!

There were three deaths this week in our immediate area; Lee Oertli, Ed Lenz and Monsignor Eugene Egan.  More about these friends next week.

Don’t forget the Red Cross Bloodmobile will be in Adrian on July 6th at the Adrian High School!!

What a great page in the Review about 6 Peters brothers serving our country!  They are the sons  of the late Gert and Herman Peters of Adrian.  If I remember correctly, the Peters had 8 sons.  Remarkable that 6 came forward to serve in the military.

Little known fact – the flag pole at the swimming pool was put up in memory of Alice Franchere and JoAnn Steenhoven, both members of the first park board!  The lovely plant decorations were dedicated in memory of the two Petersen children.
