It was with joy and sorrow that Lois “Breezy” Loosbrock was laid to rest Saturday, December 3rd at 10:00 a.m. in her beloved St. Anthony Church in Lismore. Lois, age 94, lived most of her life in Lismore and was a vital part of her church and community. She and her late husband Marvin were the parents of three sons; Gary, Steve and Mark. Officiating at the Mass was former childhood neighbor, Father David Krogman, of Brandon, SD. Fr. David gave a personal and heartwarming eulogy with humor and also tears. Fr. Beerman was able to join the family at the cemetery and give the luncheon blessing. She is survived by three daughters-in-law; nine grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews and many dear friends. Son, Mark Loosbrock, sang “Hail Mary, Gentle Woman.” It was a beautiful rendition and many tears flowed freely. Blessed be the memory of Lois “Breezy” Loosbrock. It is good to know that she is safe in the arms of Jesus.
Last Tuesday, November 29th Vonnie and Merlyn Bergland had their Tennessee Ave. neighbors, Pat Honken, Kay Cox and Lorraine Jonas to a delicious hot supper in their home. Neighbor Vivian Foster was unable to attend. We had a delightful time, with the rain and wind forgotten as we enjoyed a great meal. Pat and Kay giggled as we got in Lorraine’s car for the ride across the street!
Nice to report Adrian Floral under the ownership of Jill Wolf is opening a great business. She opened just in time for Christmas. Her telephone number is 507-360-4304. She made many of the flowers for the Loosbrock family and Lois’s casket spray was outstanding.
Even though our dear Father Beerman will leave us before Christmas the four cluster parishes will pick up the reins and proceed with the joys of Christmas and to remember “the reason for the season”!! Catholic readers, please read Fr. Beerman’s remarks in the last bulletin.
The St. Joseph organization at St. Adrian served a delicious noon buffet after Mass last Sunday, December 2nd. Each person received a “Christmas Sack” with old fashioned candy and apples. The apples were compliments of Randy and Kay Wolf’s, Dayton Orchard apple farm south of Adrian. Say thanks when you see this great couple.
It was good to touch base with Steve Loosbrock, from the cities, who was here for Lois’s funeral. Steve always had a spot on the Adrian K.C. Bowling team years ago. My late husband Tom always added Steve to one of the two teams from Adrian. Steve loved visiting with the Adrian bowlers and they enjoyed him!
This writer likes to give credit to those who do good. For instance, the roast beef sandwiches and homemade buns for the Loosbrock luncheon were prepared by Countryside Inn.
Two Buck Meal will be December 12th at the Senior Center. Call Marie at 483-2588 if you want a good hot meal and lots of chatter and lots of hot coffee. See you there!
Talked to Diane Thier last week. She reports, Bernard is getting stronger every day, but curtails visits for a few more weeks. He needs lots of rest. Thanks to Julie Brake for a lovely “thank you” card about my article. I really appreciated your lovely note.
