Long time Nobles County farmer, Maurice Erlandson, died July 31st in the Hospice Cottage in Luverne.  His funeral Mass was held in St. Adrian on August 4th, officiated by Father Gerald Kosse, in the absence of Father Beerman.  Maurice and his late wife Elaine (Springman) were married in 1950 and were the parents of seven sons and two daughters; Marge, Jane, Tom, Glenn, Paul, Dean, Mark, Karl and Lane.  The Erlandson “kids” were lavish in their praise of the care their dad and family received at the Hospice Cottage.  Father Tom Jennings, pastor of St. Catherine church in Luverne, a frequent caller at the cottage, suggested the “kids” gather corn for display at the Dingmann Funeral Home. Son Lane and Carmen Erlandson cut six-foot corn stocks into two bundles and they were displayed behind Maurice’s coffin.  How very appropriate.  Grandson Nick Martin of Colorado read a tearful eulogy at the Mass.  Blessed be the memory of Maurice Erlandson, who farmed God’s beautiful land.

Kay Cox received a phone call from her daughter Ann the day of the Erlandson funeral.  She and her two daughters, Katie of Kansas City and Tammy of Andover, MN were in Colorado.  Katie was to be at a workshop.  They all were to stay for several days with former Adrianite Jane (Eickhoff) Virgil and her husband Martin.  Ann and Jane are two of the class of “78”.

Mrs. Karen Funk, former Tenn. Ave. resident and also Worthington, resident spent a long weekend in the area.  She was a two-night guest of Lorraine Jones.  Karen’s family owned the Ehlers Steak House in Worthington for many years.

Our sympathy to Sharan and Gary Honermann in the sudden death of Gale Oldre of Watertown, SD.  Gale is the brother of Sharan.  His funeral obituary is in this weeks Review.

Our sympathy to the Nytes family in the death of Charles Nytes of New Prague, MN.  His death was unexpected and so sorrowful.  The family was planning a family get-together for the wedding of one of the children of Ann Nytes.  The wedding was not postponed, but Charles was remembered often. Charles and Ann are the children of the late Lib and Al Nytes.

A Catholic Daughter workshop was held Sunday, August 7th, starting with the 10:30 Mass at St. Adrian.  State officers were present as well as officers from Adrian, Lismore, and Wilmont.  The red clad State officers had parishioners wondering who they were.  Over 40 attended the workshop that was held at the CCD Building.  Adrian Court #247 celebrated their 100th birthday in 2014.

Congratulation to Jim and Toddy Voss who celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary Sunday, August 7th with a Mass at 10:30.  The immediate family also got together Saturday and many pictures were taken.  What a young looking couple.  Father Beerman blessed them with a special prayer and the congregation gave them a long ovation.
