Adrian News 9-13-17

Once again Darla and Tony Parsley are offering up their time and garage for the collection of coats, hats, mittens, boots and sweatshirts through the end of October.  You can drop off your gently used cold weather clothing in their garage at 517 Maine Ave.

On Sunday, Sept. 10,  a huge crowd attended the Fall Dinner and Bazaar at St. Anthony Church in Lismore.  A few changes were made to accommodate the schedule of the four cluster parish.  A 10:00 a.m. Mass, celebrated by Father Colletti, was held in Lismore so folks could attend the dinner right after church.  A delicious turkey dinner with all the trimmings was served.  The weather was threatening, but God took care of that.  The service was very special.  Many people worked hard at directing traffic, greeting people and serving the hundreds who attended.  Young people were everywhere!  There were quilts on display, a large assortment of craft items and the auction items were on display for all to see.  It was good to see friends that you don’t get to see often.  The pumpkin pie was ‘to die for.’  Men, women, boys and girls all pitched in to help, and made the turkey dinner a huge success!  Congratulations St. Anthony Church on a successful day!

The Sept. 7th edition of the Argus Leader ran an article and picture of Curt Soehl, who has Adrian ties.  Curt is married to Tammy (Thier) Soehl, daughter of the late Leo and Joanne Thier.  Curt is a former fire fighter and he is announcing his bid for a Sioux Falls city council seat.  Curt served as a fire fighter for twenty years and has a great interest in city government.  Tammy is now in the financial business in Sioux Falls.  Good Luck Curt!

It was nice to receive a brochure from the Adrian Community Development Department.  Our little city has many good leaders to address the services we need to grow and to welcome new people into our community.

Don’t forget to attend St. Adrian’s Fall dinner and bazaar this next Sunday, September 17.  There will be lots to do and lots of good food!  Our chairpersons are doing a ‘bang up’ job of getting everyone appointed to their special jobs.  Real mashed potatoes should add to the meal!

There are too many 4-H winners to name them all, but the Minnesota State Fair was attended by many looking to win a ribbon.  Kay Cox got her pail of chocolate chip cookies in the mail last week.  They were sent to her by Sweet Martha.  Sweet Martha is Mrs. Gary Olson, the daughter of the late Rosemary (Vanderah) Rossini.  Rosemary was born in the house at 421 Nevada, which is now owned by Jim Reese.  A long on-going relationship is enjoyed between the Vanderahs and the Coxes!

With harvest around the corner, please remember all those involved in your prayers!

If you are not watching “So you think you can dance”on Monday nights do so next week.  Taylor Sieve is in the finals she is the granddaughter of John and Ruth (Probst) Sieve from Worthingon.  Remember VOTE TAYLOR.
