Adrian News 8-7-19

Another busy week in Adrian. The weather has been pretty good, cooler temps, but the humidity has been hanging high. The heat is one thing, but the humidity is a killer! Flowers around Adrian in local gardens are really beautiful – especially the phlox. The colors are fantastic! The cicada wasps are busy, as there seem to be plenty of cicadas for them to take down.
Hope you caught the article on the bees in last week’s Review. It was a great article and bees are something that none of us can live without!

Our deepest sympathies to the family of Agnes Joens who passed away on Tuesday, July 30. Blessed be the memory of Agnes Joens.
Last week on Monday and Tuesday, a group of men, some former Adrianites, came to town to golf in the annual I-90 golf outing. They spend two days competing both in golf and in jest, with “losers” buying dinner. It is a great time for these guys. Congrats to the “Dragons” who won hands down this year!
Last week saw the area lose two more younger members of the community Pam (Erdman) Simpson and Mike Konz. It has been a year full of losses.

Our deepest sympathies to the family of Pam Simpson. Pam passed away on Friday, August 2nd after losing her battle with cancer. Pam has lived in the Lismore/Rushmore area for her whole life. Blessed be the memory of Pam Simpson.

Our deepest sympathies to the family of Mike Konz. Mike passed away on Sunday, August 4th. Mike and Pam and the whole Konz family have been members of the Adrian community for many years. Mike will be missed. Blessed be the memory of Mike Konz.
This weekend is full of fun events for everyone. Friday and Saturday, the Adrian Campground will be holding Adrian Fun Days. On Friday, the pool hosts it’s twilight swim from 9:00 p.m. to midnight. On Saturday, there will be inflatables for kids, free ice cream cones and the evening ends with a family movie. Be sure to check out the whole schedule in this week’s Nobles County Review.

Also on tap for the weekend is the Adrian Country Club’s 25th anniversary. There will be an open best ball tournament as well as inflatables, dinner (catered by Vanbullys) and dueling pianos. No one can say there was nothing to do in Adrian this week.
I’m sure you’ve heard that the Emerald Ash Borer has shown it’s shimmery green body in Nobles County. Be sure to check your trees and learn how to tell if they are present at your house. Adrian has a lot of ash trees!

Please keep in your prayers the family and friends of the people killed and wounded in the two mass shooting that happened over the weekend. As weird as it sounds, the shooter that remains alive needs our prayers too.

Also keep in your continued prayers those from our communities that battle with things big and small. Prayer is always a good thing, even if you’re not exactly sure what to ask for.
August 9 and 10, Adrian Hardware’s parking lot will hold a “mini flea market” complete with a taco truck. Take time to check it out! Your newest treasure could be waiting for you!

Thought for the week: Every day is filled with disappointments and expectations are negative. What is wrong with looking at the sun instead of the clouds? What is wrong with seeing the glass half full instead of half empty? Why not think positively and walk with confidence? It will change your outlook!
