Well with another Christmas in July behind us, I think it’s fair to say it was a great success! Not being in town that weekend, everything I‘ve heard has been very positive. Ribs and Rims had the biggest turnout ever, there were at least five class reunions, the wrestling reunion proved to be huge, the kids activities were so much fun, a great parade, what more needs to be said. Thanks to all who came, saw, ate and helped!
Please keep Dashly Wenth, son of Andrew and Elissa (Cox) Wenth of Fayette, IA, in your prayers. Dash was born on July 23, 2018, and has been in the hospital in La Crosse WI undergoing treatments. Dash’s grandparents are Mike and Cheryl Cox of Luverne.
I was in Oklahoma City for a wedding last week and the temps down there were as high as 110 degrees. You couldn’t even breathe outside. It was said that the asphalt was 147 degrees! I won’t be complaining, well at least not for awhile.
Kay Cox, a seventy-five year alumni of Luverne High School, read in the Luverne Alumni news that the gymnasium is getting new bleachers. After countless years and more bodies, the wooden bleachers were removed and new bleachers have been installed. Time goes on and changes are made.
Wilmont’s Catholic Daughters Court Madonna #839 has expanded with the addition of a new junior court. Twenty-two young women were inducted into the court at a Mass celebrated by Fr. Colletti. Knights of Columbus were on hand honoring them along with state and local CDA officers. Congratulations to all!
The county and state fairs are in full swing. If you attend, be sure to support the young 4-H kids and their projects.
It has been a perfect summer week this past week! We’ve had weird weather, but it’s nice to have some time to turn off the A/C and enjoy the outside air. Have you noticed though, allergies are acting up? Could be a tough fall for allergy suffers.
Flowers in local gardens look wonderful due to all the rain. If you’re out and about, take time to notice. The phlox are beautiful right now.
August 6th is Bingo at the Senior dining Center. Be sure to sign up a day ahead of time.

Thought for the week: To raise a child who is comfortable enough to leave you, means you’ve done your job. They are not ours to keep, but to teach how to soar on their own.
