Mother’s Day weekend was a very busy time. On Saturday, May 13, about 50 men, women and children gathered on the north lawn of St. Adrian. They came together to pray the Rosary for peace in the world and an end to all war. This Rosary Rally was sponsored by the Catholic Daughters Court #247. It was a beautiful, sunny, spring day and folks enjoyed sitting in the sun, or in the shade. It seemed that even the traffic on Maine Street was respectful of the Rally. There were no loud horns or squealing of brakes during the prayers. Father’s dog, Big Blue, was among the many who enjoyed the prayers and the sun. Afterwards, an invitation to tour Father Colletti’s home was extended to any who had not seen the new carpet. Father Colletti told me how pleased he was with the good leadership of our area. Thanks to everyone who participated in the Rosary Rally.
Braxton, son of Whitney (Cox) and Michael Pittman, celebrated his first birthday on Saturday evening in Sioux Falls. Lots of pictures were taken with great-grandmothers Eileen Hokeness and Kay Cox. Michael’s parents from Mankato, MN, as well as aunts and uncles from all over, enjoyed a birthday picnic in their decorated garage. Braxton’s birthday cake, made by mom Whitney, was in the shape of a big bow tie! Ice cream was served by his dad, Michael. Braxton received lots of fun gifts.
On Sunday, at the close of Mass, we were privileged to hear Cindy Wolf sing the hymn “Oh Beautiful Mother.” She was accompanied by Cindy Heitkamp. It was a tearful time for many!
A Mother’s Day dinner was held at the Al and Cindy Cox home. Many family members celebrated Mother’s Day and Kay Cox’s birthday. Relatives came from Mobridge, SD, Kansas City and Sioux Falls. It was a fun and happy time for all who were there.
