Adrian News 4-4-18

Well, Easter has officially come and gone, and Spring is still hanging out around the corner.  We just can’t seem to get it to stay.  The robins have been snowed on more than three times now, and it keeps coming.  The report is that Canada is covered in snow and until Canada loses some of it’s snow, we won’t warm up much.

The snow is playing havoc on the AHS spring sports. There was water standing on the baseball field last week and the golf course isn’t open yet!  On the schedule for this coming week is boys baseball at home on Friday against Jackson, starting at 4:30 p.m.; golf on Monday, April 9, at home starting at 4:15 p.m.; and on Tuesday, April 10, a full slate of spring sports: golf at home – 4:15 p.m. against HLO and Worthington; boys baseball at home against HLO, 4:30 p.m.; girls softball, away – HLO, at 4:30 p.m.; and track and field at Luverne at 4:30 p.m.  Be sure to check with the school or an athlete before attending!

Please keep little Emma Knisley in your prayers.  She had surgery on April 2.  She is the daughter of Kim (Heidebrink) Knisley and granddaughter of Larry and Jan Heidebrink.

There were lots of great family Easter photos posted on Facebook this past weekend.  It’s fun to see how the kids and grandkids grow!

Annual World Autism Day was April 2.  Every year, autism organizations around the world ce;ebrate the day with unique fundraising and awareness-raising events.  Wear royal blue to support autism.

The Adrian Country Cottages was all decked out for Easter right down to the ham dinner!  It’s very special, because the residents are all one big family and thoroughly enjoy the extended family members when they come to visit.  Hugs and smiles extend all around, even if you’re not a true family member!

April is National Donate Life Month. Watch for upcoming stories on some local donors.

Mark and Mary (Cox) Taylor of Minneapolis, drove down to visit Kay Cox on Saturday.  They then drove to Luverne to see Brian Cox and stopped to visit cousin, Jay Klein, who is a patient in the Sanford Luverne Hospice Cottage. On Sunday, Kay enjoyed Easter dinner in the home of Al and Cindy Cox.  It was fun to spend time with Michael and Whitney (Cox) Pittman and see little Braxton!

On April 10, the Senior Dining Center will be playing cards and also have a senior meeting scheduled.  Join them for dinner and a fun afternoon.  Call ahead for reservations.

This country is going through a deeply challenging time.  Jesus’ words spoken from the cross seem to fit – “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me.”  These are not the last words.  God doesn’t forget his people in times of turmoil.  Especially during this Easter season, we know we are not forgotten, but are led by God to see His love and grace.  In God we trust!

Have a good Week!
